The Chippewa Valley Symphony Foundation is the philanthropic & investment arm of the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra. Each year the Foundation provides a portion of its annual earnings to the Symphony to help defray the cost of its operations.

Our foundation was created in 1994 with an initial endowment of $20,000. When we began this campaign, Foundation assets were $375,000. Today, Foundation assets exceed &600,000 thanks to wise investments and generous donations from people like you. Our Foundation annually contributes from its earnings approximately 4% of its corpus to the Symphony for its operations. Funds contributed are used by the Symphony for the following:
  • Concerts
  • Printing Costs (Brochures and Programs)
  • Guest Artists
  • Musician Stipends
  • Area Schools Outreach Program
  • Administrative Costs

Reaching our campaign goal will enable the Foundation to increase its annual gift to approximately $40,000. This will allow the Symphony to continue to expand its efforts to bring Music You Love By People You Know  to a whole new generation of supporters.

Beginning in 1975 with seven members, the Symphony Orchestra has grown to over sixty talented musicians under the professional direction of Mistro Nobu Yasuda.

As a result of achieving higher levels of quality and demonstrating the ability to perform more challenging compositions, the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra has become recognized as one of the finest symphony orchestra’s in the Upper Midwest. The Symphony annually conducts five concerts for area music lovers, ranging from classical symphonic to modern and pop musical selections that are appealing to a wide variety of music goers.

This season, the Symphony’s performances will be further enhanced as their skills are displayed in the new and beautiful state of the art Pablo Center at the Confluence. The Symphony’s 2018-2019 Concert Season will feature the renowned virtuoso violinist Rachel Barton Pine and also a homecoming performance of Master cellist, Mark Kosower. About one-third of the Symphony’s revenues come from ticket sales. The other two-thirds come from our Foundation, donors and concert sponsors.

The Symphony's impact on the Community is not limited to concerts. it also is involved in such activities as:
  • The Symphony Outreach Program, where 1,400 area third graders meet and interact with Symphony musicians to learn about orchestra music and instruments.
  • The Young Artists Competition, which showcases young musical talent in the area.
  • The showcasing of young student art work inspired by Symphony musicians which is exhibited at the Janet Carson Gallery. Student participants and their parents receive free tickets to a Symphony concert.
  • The Symphony collaborates with a wide variety of other area musical groups (both instrumental and vocal) to foster the growth and development of musical skills in the area.
Suffice it to say that Symphony events and programs are designed to cultivate and retain talented local musicians.

A contribution on your part to increase our Foundation's assets will help to:
  • Insure the future of quality symphonic performances by talented musicians under the leadership of Nobu Yasuda.
  • Feature world class guest artists to perform with the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra.
  • Continue to introduce 1,400 third graders each year to orchestra music and instruments through the Symphony Outreach Program.
  • Continue our Young Artists Competition, which showcases young musical talent in the area.
  • Showcase young student artwork inspired by Symphony musicians which is exhibited in the Graham Ave Gallery.
  • Continue to collaborate with area musical groups such as the Master Singers, the Chippewa Valley Community Chorus, the Chippewa Valley Youth Symphony, Eau Claire Jazz Group and others to foster the growth and development of musical skills in the area.
A contribution to our Foundation is a gift that keeps on giving since only the earnings from the assets are distributed annually to the Symphony.

Your contribution can be designated for the Foundation’s general fund or to a specific purpose, the choice is yours. For example, you can specify use of your gift for the Symphony’s Conductor, Principal Musicians, Section Musicians or Guest Artists. In addition, your gift may be payable in installments over a period of years. Alternatively, you may prefer to make a deferred gift.

However you direct your gift or whatever mode of payment you select, you can take comfort in knowing it will sustain beautiful symphonic music in the Chippewa Valley. Please accept our invitation to be part of “A Heart for the Arts” so you and can continue to enjoy Music You Love By People You Know.
